r.p. funderburk biography

R.P. Funderburk's love of birds led him to build birdhouses from the rescued boards and objects found in his work of remodeling buildings in the area. He uses pieces of tin roofs, barbed wire and old square nails from his work.  Then he adds seedpods, twigs, vines and mosses.  R.P.'s background as a carpenter has enabled him to use tricks of the trade to ensure each birdhouse is well built to last for years.  They are designed to highlight the best features of the materials and are easy to maintain.

IR.P. is a member of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, the Artists’ Link in Memphis TN, the DeSoto Arts Council and the Olive Branch Arts Council.   Exhibiting membership in the Guild is open to anyone whose work reflects professional standards and a high degree of competence in creating fine handmade craft.

His birdhouses can be seen at the new Mississippi Crafts Center near Jackson MS and at the Cotton Patch in Olive Branch MS.
